Making Music for Infants and Toddlers
Exposure to music and music-making activities simultaneously promotes development in multiple domains. A sensory-engaging musical classroom environment can greatly contribute to a child’s cognitive and sensory development, promote language skills, and help with emotional regulation. During this preconference session, participants will learn how music affects the brain and behavior of young children and best practices to use music in the classroom. Topics include: live versus recorded music, instrument play, educational objectives for each developmental domain through music, thematic-based planning and music, sign language and music, how to adapt music activities for all ages and abilities, and resources for every classroom!
It’s Okay to Play in VPK!
This workshop (continued on Saturday) will enable educators to select, support, and provide the kinds of quality everyday activities and environments that move children towards kindergarten, ready to learn. This workshop is appropriate for educators and caregivers of preschool children.
The second part of this workshop will take place on Saturday. Attendees must attend BOTH sessions to get a certificate for this training.
It Starts in the Heart – Inspiring the Heart, Engaging the Mind – Directors’ session
